The National Weather Service, or NWS, in Birmingham, Alabama, provides a variety of meteorological and hydrological services for 39 counties in Central Alabama. The office is located at the Shelby County Airport in Calera, AL. Employing the latest technology, scientific techniques, and sound meteorological reasoning, our mission is to serve the people by initiating and distributing timely and effective warnings, statements, and forecasts to save lives!
